This edtech startup is using gamification to accelerate learning for students, hiring for corporates
Hyderabad-based edtech startup EduThrill uses an AI/ML-powered gamified assessment platform that helps students and young professionals prepare for competitive exams while enabling corporates to accelerate recruitment and training assessments.
Staying ahead of the competition isn’t easy for students and young professionals. Hyderabad-based edtech startup EduThrill aims to make that journey easier with its suite of products across the education and HR technology space, revolutionizing the way assessments are conducted.
The platform was created with the vision of addressing a common challenge faced by both learners and employers. Traditional assessments often measure knowledge but fail to create engaging learning experiences or accurately evaluate real-world skills. EduThrill’s AI and ML-powered platform combines intelligent analytics with gamification to transform assessments into interactive experiences that improve participation, knowledge retention, and measurable outcomes.
By bringing together education and recruitment on a single platform, EduThrill enables learners to build skills, evaluate their progress, and seamlessly transition from learning to employment. This integrated approach creates value not only for students but also for educational institutions and organizations seeking skilled talent.
Founded in 2017 by Amit Arora and Leela Kaza, EduThrill uses gamification to deliver tests and assessment tools. It helps students prepare for competitive exams, enables corporates to accelerate recruitment and training assessments, supports institutes in improving academic quality, and assists job seekers in preparing for and securing jobs of their choice.
“EduThrill stands out due to its easy-to-use multilingual interface, low internet footprint requirement, and offline enablement. We have also created content that the same demographic is interested in consuming. Users don’t need to invest in expensive gadgets or laptops and can use EduThrill in the freemium model,” Amit says.
The startup is working to make career-enhancing technology accessible to meritorious students and job seekers, irrespective of their geographical location or purchasing power, while helping corporates and educational institutes improve their outcomes. Its games-based learning model enhances engagement, improves knowledge retention, and ultimately helps learners achieve better academic and career results.
In the Beginning
An alumnus of Delhi University, Amit has more than 20 years of experience working with domestic and international companies, including Amazon and Trilogy. Throughout his career, he has held key leadership positions that shaped his expertise in technology, recruitment, business development, and innovation.
He is also the Chief Innovation Officer at Accolite, a niche $50 million-plus software services organization. In both roles, he oversees marketing and branding functions in addition to responsibilities spanning technology, business, and recruitment.
Amit recognized the urgent need for a technology platform that could bridge the gap between education and employment by making assessments more engaging, intelligent, and accessible. After discussing the idea with his friend and former Trilogy colleague Leela Kaza during a 30-minute car ride, the duo decided to build EduThrill with an investment of approximately $1 million.
Since then, EduThrill has grown into a team of around 50 professionals spread across Hyderabad and Gurugram, continuously expanding its offerings across education and HR technology.
What Does It Offer?
Content and assessments are available for school students from Classes 6 to 12. The platform also offers free and paid preparatory assessments for competitive examinations such as CAT, UPSC, NDA, RRB, BBA, and several others by partnering with organizations that provide specialized learning courses.
Students can analyze their current understanding through advanced analytics that identify individual strengths and weaknesses, enabling them to create personalized learning plans and improve performance over time.
EduThrill also enables seamless classroom management and AI/ML-powered remote proctored examinations designed to maintain assessment integrity while preventing cheating.
The platform is designed to serve multiple stakeholders across the education ecosystem. Students receive personalized assessments, colleges gain access to technology-driven admission and placement solutions, while enterprises benefit from scalable recruitment and employee development tools. This end-to-end ecosystem enables organizations to manage the complete talent lifecycle, from identifying potential candidates to supporting continuous learning and workforce development.
Advanced analytics provide detailed insights into performance trends, allowing users to understand subject-wise strengths, identify improvement areas, and monitor progress over time. Educators and recruiters can leverage these insights to make informed decisions, resulting in more effective learning interventions and hiring outcomes.
Colleges and universities can improve student admissions and enrollments through the platform’s campus recruitment, training, and placement solutions, giving students opportunities to participate in hiring drives and connect with leading employers.
EduThrill’s learning and development solutions for corporates streamline employee assessments, recruitment, and training while significantly reducing employee screening costs and shortening hiring timelines by enabling assessments from any location.
Under its fully managed hiring drive model, organizations gain access to a large pool of passive job seekers through the EduThrill platform, making talent acquisition more efficient and scalable.
For recruiters, the platform simplifies high-volume hiring by automating assessments and enabling remote evaluations without compromising quality. Organizations can assess candidates across multiple locations simultaneously, reducing manual effort while improving hiring efficiency. AI-powered proctoring and intelligent evaluation mechanisms further ensure fairness and integrity throughout the recruitment process.
As hybrid work models continue to evolve, organizations increasingly require digital-first recruitment processes capable of evaluating candidates efficiently regardless of location. EduThrill addresses this need by providing scalable assessment infrastructure that supports both campus hiring and experienced professional recruitment.
According to Amit, corporates and institutes such as Acer, AAIMS, Accolite, Evernote, and Kuliza, among others, have chosen EduThrill as their preferred technology partner. More than 20 enterprise clients are already on board, with the company aiming to grow this number to over 100 within the next nine to twelve months.
“There are more than 450,000 active end users of this cutting-edge world-class technology in India,” Amit says.
The platform is available in a freemium model for B2C users while offering SaaS-based assessments and fully managed hiring drives for enterprise customers.
The Industry Landscape
A recent report by RedSeer Consulting and Omidyar Network India highlighted the rapid growth of the edtech sector, revealing that paid and free users across the K12 and post-K12 segments doubled from 45 million to 90 million between 2019 and 2020.
The increasing adoption of digital education has accelerated demand for platforms that go beyond conventional testing. Interactive learning, adaptive assessments, and gamification are becoming essential components of modern education because they improve learner engagement while providing measurable outcomes for institutions and employers alike.
Similarly, businesses are embracing intelligent assessment platforms to enhance recruitment quality, reduce hiring timelines, and identify candidates based on demonstrated competencies rather than traditional screening methods alone. This convergence of education technology and HR technology positions platforms like EduThrill to address multiple market needs through a unified solution.
The coronavirus pandemic further accelerated this digital transformation, reinforcing the importance of online learning and assessment solutions. Educational institutions, businesses, and learners increasingly recognize the value these technologies bring, even when combined with traditional teaching methodologies.
“Gamification and continuous personalized learning are very powerful tools and extremely useful for remote teaching,” Amit says.
Discussing what differentiates EduThrill from competitors such as Mettl, HackerRank, and Codility, Amit explains that the company uniquely enables learning and assessments through two-minute competitive games. Whether users are reinforcing classroom learning, preparing for entrance examinations like CAT, or pursuing employment opportunities, the platform delivers an engaging and effective assessment experience.
EduThrill claims to have achieved 200 percent revenue growth last year and is targeting 500 percent growth this year while preparing for international expansion.
Looking ahead, the company plans to continue investing in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and advanced analytics to further personalize learning experiences and enhance assessment accuracy. As organizations increasingly adopt skills-based hiring and educational institutions continue their digital transformation journeys, EduThrill aims to expand its technology capabilities to support an even broader range of learning and recruitment scenarios.
With its focus on accessibility, multilingual support, gamified engagement, and AI-driven insights, EduThrill is well positioned to contribute to the evolving education and talent ecosystem. By connecting students, educational institutions, and employers through a single technology platform, the startup continues to demonstrate how digital innovation can create meaningful impact across both learning and workforce development.
“We want to onboard 10 crore users by 2023 and aim to work with 3,000 to 4,000 colleges and corporates globally,” Amit says.
